WLC College : A new view to management education

The journey of a management student through our institute is certainly a unique experience. There are not many colleges which put little emphasis on the students experience of going through what is certainly a foundation time to build a great career. You will come across colleges that put all their focus on the subjects that are out of date with the current industry requirements.

But one has to wonder if that is enough. If students were able to become great managers only by classroom teaching then India itself would have a great pool of managerial talent. But the numbers speak otherwise.
A recent study by Times of India claims that there are around 5 lakh students are pursuing MBA in India but only one-fifth of them are actually employable. This proves that the traditional management courses that offered a fruitful career in the past are fast proving to be a dead end for students.

We were quick to identify this gap emerging in education and took up the cause to groom each and every student who chose to entrust their careers to us.

When a student joins our college, we make him go through thorough assessments to gauge his strong and weak points. Then work with the student on developing each skill constructively. We have built multiple platforms for students to be exposed to all types of business roles and train them accordingly. We have numerous mentorship processes to make sure that the student is able to fit perfectly in the industry.

wlc review by shreyika Bharadwaj

I am Shreyika Bharadwaj. I studied at WLC College for my graphic design training. The college has excellent facility for students who want to get into this field.
I started my course to develop my computer application skills in designing. The first year of the course was dedicated to our drawing and illustrative ability. I was always good at drawing so this came naturally to me. But designing illustrations for corporate projects is very different. I learnt different techniques for enabling a concept as the whole class worked on these projects.
The next part of development was the traineeship. This is was my first experience of working in an office. Since, we were also provided a stipend, I enjoyed this opportunity immensely. The exposure was important for me as it helped me to understand how to move ahead in my work.
The faculty at the college played an instrumental role in our development. They maintained a close relationship with all the students and helped us individually to bridge the gaps in our work. This sort of interaction is very important for any student picking up a career at the creative side.
The college itself had all the facilities necessary to exploit our talent. The library and Computer lab provide excellent resources. We students are also given opportunity to visit various conferences to help understand the overall functioning of the industry.
I would recommend the college to all aspiring graphic designers.
 Shreyika Bharadwaj

Top 5 reasons why Industry prefers WLCI over other B-Schools

WLCI is one of the largest professional education institutions in the country. WLCI is a pioneer in Industry-Led Education and has many unique advantages to offer to students.
Listed below are the top 5 reasons why Industry prefers WLCI students over students of other B-Schools.
       1.      On-the-job training program: WLCI is the only management college in India which offers an on-the-job training opportunity to the students. This training is provided as part of the flagship program of the college known as the ‘Traineeship Advantage’. Students work part-time in a real job environment simultaneously alongside the management course. They acquire work related skills while still studying and are able to earn a handsome stipend too. The college has partnered with 400 top companies to provide on-the-job training facility to the students. Some of partner organizations are Kotak Mahindra, Coca-cola, HDFC Bank, Hindustan Times Media, Alcatel-Lucent, Bajaj Capital and Franklin Templeton etc.

The traineeship advantage enables WLCI students graduate with a 2 years of experience, which enables them to perform on the job right from day 1. Since Industry prefers experienced professionals over freshers, WLCI students are always preferred.

      2.      Industry-endorsed course: The course content at WLCI is developed in active participation with employers and is tailored around the actual work environment. Over 400 senior professionals from top 150 organisations have partnered WLCI in ensuring that the course content is up-to-date and enables the development of competent professionals.

Since the course content at WLCI is developed by the employers themselves, they give preference to WLCI students who have been trained as per their requirements rather than those who have acquired theoretical knowledge at other B-Schools.

      3.      Faculty: The faculty at WLCI is comprises of highly experienced professionals who are at the cutting edge of their profession. The faculty at WLCI has at least 15 years of experience in their area of expertise. Thus, they are adept at equipping students with skills to apply concepts in real work situations.

Since most senior professionals from the Industry train WLCI students, they give preference to those who have been trained by them rather than by professors who only have bookish knowledge.

       4.      Skills & Attitude training: Knowledge of the chosen profession in isolation does not lead to best job offers. It needs to be complemented with relevant skills, abilities and a positive attitude towards your work, life and others around you.

Through the skills and attitude programme,  WLCI trains students in Life Skills, Communication Skills, Time management, Team building, Conflict management amongst others skills.

This training proves to highly beneficial for students and helps them succeed not only professionally but personally as well.

Since WLCI students graduate with a positive attitude and a zeal for work, they are preferred by the Industry over those who are not prepared for the Industry.

      5.      Employers Council: The employers council comprises of over 400 senior professionals from the Industry who ensure that the course designed by WLCI is up-to-date and meets the requirements of the Industry.

By virtue of the relevant course, students acquire knowledge, skills and abilities that are required by the Industry and are thus preferred over graduates of other B-Schools.

The above proves beyond doubt that WLCI is indeed way ahead of other B- Schools in India, including the IIM’s. As Kumkum Nongrum, VP-HR, Royal Bank of Scotland, puts it “ WLCI students are much better oriented to the Industry than the IIM’s or other B-Schools”.
